The first in a new range of Bargello Design kits. I have been fascinated by the amazing colours and mesmerising and timeless patterns which form Bargello. It is also found in antique Needlework which also appeals to me.
Bargello Jewels uses a rich colour theme in a curving geometric pattern.
Sewn over several threads, Bargello Embroidery builds quickly using a simple straight stitch. Great for people who don’t have enough time to devote to embroidery. Rocaille beads are added at the end for extra sparkle.
The name Bargello originates from a series of chairs found in the Bargello palace in Florence, which have a “flame stitch” pattern. It is thought that the embroidery style actually originates in Eastern Europe, where all sorts of Geometric designs were created.
It was a craze in the 1970’s to stitch only the flame patterns in extraordinary colour combinations.
Quite mesmerising patterns can be created and repeated over again. With different patterns forming over a sequence of colour changes.
Traditional designs are very colourful, and use many hues of one colour, which produces intricate shading effects. It’s fun to use a few repeating shapes to represent trees or flowers. Different shapes can be seen depending on how you look!
This design can be a cushion, bag front or picture.
