Crafter’s Market UK was co-founded in Bristol by two independent crafters, David and Holly, to introduce a breath of fresh air to the crafting marketplace scene.
Created out of the frustrations of using some of the alternative marketplaces out there, Crafter’s Market UK has been formed with the aim of creating a supportive community of likeminded crafters to help one another grow and succeed.
As crafters ourselves, we can appreciate and sympathise with the struggles that a craft business can face. Including the gut wrenching lack of profits that are generated once all expenses are taken out.
Crafter’s Market UK is about restoring the sense of community in crafting, while making it easy and safe for makers to sell their work online.

Is Crafter’s Market UK an alternative to Etsy?
Yes. Crafter’s Market UK is a UK-only alternative to Etsy, focused exclusively on genuinely handmade products from independent British makers. Unlike Etsy, we don’t allow resellers or mass-produced items, and our fees are lower – there are no listing fees, and you can start a shop for free. You can of course use both Etsy and Crafter’s Market at the same time, knowing you’ll only pay CMUK if you make a sale.
Are all the products on CMUK genuinely handmade?
Yes. Every product on Crafter’s Market UK is either handmade or designed by the seller. We don’t accept resellers, drop-shippers or mass-produced items. Our Handmade Policy sets out exactly what qualifies, and we actively review listings to keep the marketplace genuine.
Are your sellers all based in the UK?
Yes. We’re a UK-only marketplace. Every seller on CMUK is based in the UK, and we verify UK address and contact details when they sign up. When you buy on CMUK, you’re supporting a small British business.
Do you really plant a tree for every order?
Yes – we partner with Ecologi to plant a tree with every order placed on Crafter’s Market UK. You can view our tree-planting profile on the Ecologi website.
