The various wanderers of the world, from the Hunters of the wilderness to the Delvers of the Undercaves, have little in common, but one universal truth is this: sooner or later, everyone needs a Healer.
In days gone by, the Caladrius – sometimes called the Dhalion – a raven-like bird pure white in colour, would make itself a companion to a Healer, and this uncommon bird could cure any ailment of the living a single touch, though no one person could receive its healing more than once, and – contrary to the belief of some – it could not turn back death.
A Caladrius could live for over a century, rejuvenating themselves as they cured the sickness in others, but were not immortal: those who bonded themselves to a Healer often passed on when their companion died, and any that were held in captivity starved themselves rather than live under such conditions.
A Healer who wears the talisman of the Caladrius understands and respects the immutable nature of mortality, also the bonds that transcend it.
