Oak ‘Weave’ Lidded Box
Hand turned using an oak off cut when our stairs were replaced and interlaced with a selection of contrasting wood veneers.
Designed and crafted in North Somerset UK, this lidded box is both practical and decorative and is approximately 13.5cm (5.25inches) high and 8.5cm (5.5inches) in diameter.
Again inspired by a TV programme, this time by how eccentric designer Bonjo Beale created a barrier wall in a restaurant he was redesigning using laminated wood, in his programme Designing the Hebrides.
The upright ‘posts’ are bamboo and there are 7 contrasting veneer strips woven between them using 3 different wood types.
Finished using sealant, lacquer and wax polish.
