Double ‘Gourd’ Pyrographed Hollow Vase
Hand turned from sycamore it measures approximately 17cm (6.75 inches) tall and has a diameter of (cm (3.5inches) at the widest point.
Designed and crafted in North Somerset, Uk, the shape was inspired when watching The Great Pottery Throw Down on TV when contestants were asked to produce a ‘double gourd vase’. So I worked out how to turn a similar shape in wood.
To add further interest I pyrographed a floral design on one side of the vase with the grain of the wood offering an interesting alternative on the opposite side.
Suitable for displaying dried flowers only – finished with a combination of sealant , lacquer and wax polish.
