About Pillar Candles
Pillar candles are freestanding candles designed to hold their shape without a container. As the wick burns, the heat melts the surrounding wax, creating a pool of liquid wax around the flame. This is a normal part of how a pillar candle burns.
Unlike container candles, pillar candles do not have a vessel to contain the melted wax. Depending on the candle’s design and how it burns, the melted wax may eventually flow over the sides.
For this reason, always place your pillar candle on a suitable, stable, heat-resistant candle plate or tray with enough space to catch any melted wax. This helps protect your furniture and surrounding surfaces from heat and wax spills.
Important Pillar Candle Safety
– Always burn your candle on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface with a suitable candle plate underneath.
– Ensure the plate is large enough to catch any wax that may drip or flow from the candle.
– Never place a burning pillar candle directly on furniture, wood, fabric or other heat-sensitive surfaces.
– Keep away from draughts, open windows and anything flammable, including curtains and decorations.
– Keep candles at least 10 cm apart when burning more than one.
– Trim the wick to approximately 5 mm before lighting and keep it free from debris.
– Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep it away from children and pets.
– Do not move the candle while it is burning or while the wax is hot.
– Extinguish the candle if the flame becomes too high, flickers excessively or the candle burns unevenly.
– Stop burning when approximately 1 cm of wax remains at the base, or sooner if the candle becomes unstable.
Please remember: A candle plate is not just decorative. It provides a protective surface and helps contain melted wax, but it does not eliminate the risk of heat damage or fire. Always burn your candle responsibly and follow the safety instructions provided.
