I bought a box of damaged wall tiles from my local recycling centre, all destined to be thrown away, some distinctive patterns, modern and old designs.
This pendant is made from one of the rescued tiles, Mexican pattern. Chunky with striking colours. I dropped the tile to create random shards. Lovely rich blue, smoothed and sealed with Eco Friendly matt sealant. One of a kind pendant, unique.
Quite a few pieces were created from this one tile and although from the same pattern no two are the same.
Shard measures approximately 26 mm x 20 mm x 5 mm.
Hanging on black woven cord 44 cm, sterling silver ends and clasp.
The idea is to create something new from old, the finished piece isn’t meant to be perfect. Instead, retain marks, stains and scratches, part of the original character of the ceramic.
Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production. Sustainable gifts, complete with short bio and gift bag.
