Believed by some to be descended from the great and terrible Cerberus, guardian of the Underworld, the Hellhound is among the most dangerous of the demon-creatures ever to escape into the Mortal world.
Their mere presence can bring about ill fortune, from a simple sprained ankle to a catastrophic pestilence: any who fight a Hellhound and live to speak of it are considered either blessed with the luck of the gods, or else fated to become themselves a bringer of darkness and misfortune.
