Abundance is 12″ / 30cm tall seated. She does not stand. She is inspired by Autumn and the associated celebration of an abundant harvest, although her offerings are meant to symbolise any form of abundance.
She’s created with a wire armature and layers of wool, needle-felted to create a firm body. Her clothes are mainly wet-felted. Her hair is acrylic yarn and odd beads, and other items are used as embellishments. I also use chalks, paints, false eyelashes, and various beads and other items for accessories. She has a symbolic platter of riches – I’ve used small pieces of jewellery, chains & beads.
Although she has a wire armature, it is not recommended to bend legs (except for making minor adjustments to her seated position) as this weakens the wire. Her hands are glued to the platter, so they won’t move!
It is not a toy and should not be given to children (I’ve seen what they do to felted folk – it’s not pretty).
She sits and offers serenity, peace and reminds us that abundance in all good things should be our natural state.
