My Japanese Collection decoupage made from vintage Japanese block prints, pictures. and kimono designs. I love Japanese design as I lived there for several years when I was younger.
New wooden box and the patten is self printed onto sumi rice paper it’s a copy of a wood block design of an vintage print of a Japanese face. Paper round the side is pictures of vintage Japanese faces round the edges and inside. Inside white paint and all finished with high gloss varnish to give it a lacquered look.

In Japan they use of the “face” in many prints and paintings. This is because the face represents the honor, dignity, status or reputation of an individual that one strives to protect or maintain at all costs.
