Those who survive the harsh conditions of the wilderness have little time for small-talk, and so prefer to introduce themselves in simple ways: for example, displaying a trophy they took from a savage beast that made the mistake of crossing their path.

That being said, it’s not usually a good idea to question whether or not the person wearing the trophy is the one who necessarily *earned* it, so they can also be a fashion statement.

This was taken from the elusive Dire Wolf. Almost exactly like its ordinary kin in appearance and behaviour, the Dire Wolf is distinguished by its enormous size – in some cases equal to a war-horse – and heightened intelligence.

It is almost unheard of for a Dire Wolf to fall prey to a human, and those that do have more often than not been injured by larger foes, very old, or else gravely ill. Even the most skilled hunter can spend years in pursuit of the same Dire Wolf and still fail. Some believe the Dire Wolves think it is a game, and are having fun at the hunters’ expense.

Those who wear trophies of a slain Dire Wolf declare themselves to be ruthless, either as hunters or as opportunists.
