Handcrafted Xylia (Burma Ironwood) Cigar-Style Pen
These stylish cigar-style pens feature quality twist mechanisms and are fitted with smooth-flowing black ink refills, which are readily available online.
The wood used for this pen is Xylia, also known as Burma Ironwood. This exceptionally dense and durable tropical hardwood is native to South and Southeast Asia. Known locally as Pyinkado or Irul, it is prized for its rich reddish-brown to dark purple-brown colouring and distinctive interlocked grain, making it an excellent choice for fine woodturning.
Carefully Handcrafted
Each piece of wood is carefully selected before going through a series of preparation processes prior to turning on the lathe. Once turned to its final shape, the pen is carefully sanded and sealed before being worked through progressively finer grades of abrasive.
The final finish is achieved using a high-grade microcrystalline wax, specially designed to provide a durable, smooth finish while helping to resist finger marks.
Having been polished, each pen is then carefully assembled and thoroughly tested to ensure the mechanism operates smoothly and the finished pen meets the required standard.
The result is a substantial, beautifully finished pen that showcases the natural character and unique grain of the Xylia wood.
