These distinctive dogs live in large packs and are very social animals and very protective of their family members, they have large bat like ears and each dog has unique markings, they almost look like they have been splattered with paint – hence their moniker.
They are sadly listed as endangered on the ICUNs red list and there are fewer than 6,600 of them left in the wild at risk from disese, other larger predators and humans that they may come into contact with in their diminishing habitat.
