The best stocking fillers are small, a little bit special and not something anyone would buy for themselves. Handmade ones have an extra advantage: nobody else will have the same thing in their stocking.
Everything here is under £15, made by an independent maker in the UK, and covered by our Buyer Protection. The rows refresh as stock changes, so what you see is available to order.
Something to wear
Earrings, bracelets and hair clips are the classic stocking filler for a reason: small, light and easy to post. Handmade ones are often one of a kind.
For the home and the tree
A new decoration in the stocking is a lovely tradition: something to hang on Christmas morning that comes out again every year.
Small and useful
Bookmarks, notebooks, tea towels and calendars: the stocking fillers that actually get used in January.
Stocking filler ideas by person
- For someone who reads: a wooden or fabric bookmark, a handbound notebook, a book sleeve.
- For someone who cooks: a printed tea towel, a wooden spoon, a jar of something homemade.
- For a teenager: polymer clay earrings, a bag charm, a crochet keyring.
- For a child: a crocheted animal, a tree decoration with their name on, a small craft kit. Check the maker’s age guidance.
- For someone who has everything: something made locally, such as a calendar of their own town or a print of a favourite view.
How to fill a stocking without overspending
A simple way to plan a stocking is to pick one thing from each of these, then set a budget for the lot:
- Something to wear, such as earrings, a hair clip or a pair of socks.
- Something to use, such as a bookmark, a notebook or a tea towel.
- Something for the tree they can hang on Christmas morning.
- Something to enjoy, such as a candle, wax melts or a treat.
- Something to make them laugh, which every stocking needs.
Five small handmade things at £5 to £12 each make a stocking that feels generous without costing a fortune, and every one of them supports a maker.
Under £10 and under £5
If you are filling a whole stocking, mix a few bigger pieces with small ones. Wax melt bars, hair bows, greetings cards and many tree decorations are under £5. Our Secret Santa guide has three rows of ideas under £10.
