About
Hello! I'm a textile artist and doll-maker working from a small studio in South Wales. I use natural or recycled materials and - because they are hand-crafted - my dolls often have stray threads and wonky stitches. My dolls might not have the perfect look that only mass production in a factory setting can achieve but if you buy one, I promise that you have the only one in the world that looks like she does. I don't make toys so please don't give one of my dolls to children or animals as a plaything as beads, buttons or threads could become detached. Dolls fascinate me - not as toys or playthings - but as expressive and characterful decorative objects. I make all sorts of cloth dolls - from traditional country/folk, homespun and prim to art, healing and protest dolls. While some are only for exhibition purposes, the ones that listed here are for sale. I hope you enjoying looking around Thread and Thrum. If you do, you may find my website www.marialalic.cymru interesting too.
