The Mendez Basic

The Mendez is a small, family-run Mexican leather goods online shop based in Edinburgh. While I have been living in Scotland for several years, my father continues to handcraft leather goods in Mexico. I started this online shop to showcase his work here in the UK and to share the craft that has long been part of our family.

Every piece is made manually by my dad using bovine leather. Each leather tray, leather key chain, and leather guitar strap is individually crafted, one at a time. Because the items are handmade and carefully transported from Mexico to the UK, some pieces may show slight surface marks or minor imperfections. For this reason, they are classified as “seconds.” However, all products are brand new and fully functional.

Rather than discarding pieces with small marks caused either by the natural character of the leather or by transport, we offer them at accessible prices. As this is a newly launched online business, all of our guitar straps, leather trays, and leather key chains are currently priced under £50.
