Description
“Protection” Purple Lampwork Glass Dangle Drop Eerrings with Czech crystal Hamsa Hands charms. The lampwork glass is made by one of my favourite lampwork designers, Nicky Townsend, and features a storm of purple and black with a hint of pink, featuring .999 fine silver lines run around the centre. I have added blue premium brand crystal to compliment the blue in the Hamsa Hands charms. They reflect deep colours of violet, blue and pink purple.
The length of these earrings is 5 cm, not including the earwire in the measurement, and the width, at the widest point, is approximately 1.3 cm. These are lovely, lightweight earrings so no pulled ears. I have finished these off with sterling silver French earwires so no sore ears from lesser metals. The earwires and headpins are sterling silver and the other metal used is silver plated for strength.
The Hamsa is an ancient Middle Eastern amulet symbolizing the Hand of God. In all faiths it is a protective sign. It brings it’s owner happiness, luck, health, and good fortune.
The hamsa hand is known by many names – hamsa, hamsa hand, hamesh, hamesh hand, khamsa and chamsa. It is also called the Hand of Miriam, named for Moses and Aaron’s sister. There are two main styles of hamsa hand: the most popular is the stylised hamsa hand with two symmetrical thumbs, but there are also hamsa hands that are not shaped like hands or symmetrical.
Either hamsa hand can be worn with the fingers pointing up or down, and both are believed to offer its owner happiness, peace, and prosperity, as well as protection from the ayin ha’ra, or the evil eye.
