Howard is a red deer stag, typical of the far north west of Scotland. The reference photo I used to paint Howard was taken by a gentleman travelling through Scotland and who kindly gave permission for me to use it to paint Howard. And, yes, you’ve guessed it his name was Howard! He is painted in shades of brown and red with a white beard and ears and a shiny black nose. The background is a soft, sage green which sets off his colours really well. He can be hung on the wall as he is or popped into a standard canvas frame of your choice. The finished painting has been coated with a protector to ensure the colours remain bright and vibrant for years to come. This is a unique item as I only ever paint a subject once, so, there will never be another Howard!
